The Jungle Biome in 99 Nights in the Forest: how to unlock it, clear the Jungle and Mother Temple quests, counter Boars and Jungle Cultists, and grab Poison Claws and Poison Armor.

The Jungle Biome is one of the toughest regions in Dino Kid — five temples, poison traps, Tar, and some of the best mid-game loot. Here is how to unlock it and clear it safely.

How to unlock the Jungle Biome
Campfire Level 3 opens the biome
Once your Campfire hits Level 3 the grass darkens and tropical foliage appears, signalling you have entered the Jungle. Prioritise wood, coal and fuel early if you want quick access.
Campfire Level 6 for full access
Full exploration of the temple complex needs a Level 6 Campfire. The Mother Temple sits at the center, ringed by four Jungle Temples to the north, south, east and west.
The Temple quest
Each of the four Jungle Temples has a rooftop room guarded by two Jungle Cultists (regular or Tier 2 chest) and a basement obby lined with blowdart traps. Clear the obby to claim a Skull Trial Stone — and grab the Vine Chest, which can drop Poison Spear, Poison Dart, Poison Claws or a Cultist Gem. Stand by the rope before taking the stone to skip one trap run on the way out.
Collect 4 Skull Trial Stones
Complete the basement obby in each of the four surrounding temples. The stones respawn daily, so you can grind them across runs if needed.
Open the Mother Temple basement
Place all four stones on the Mother Temple pedestals to open an underground room with 3x Cultist Gems, 2x Gem of the Forest fragments, and one Jungle Chest. The basement gems respawn, but the Jungle Chest opens only once per player and may contain Poison Armor or Poison Claws.
Inhabitants & how to counter them
Boars
Tougher than wolves and hard to outrun — they chase on sight. Keep distance, use ranged weapons or bear traps. They drop Morsel and Steak when killed.
Jungle Cultists
Armed with a Poison Spear or Blowpipe and protected by poison armour that bites back in melee. Use ranged attacks, cover, and high-tier weapons. Found at the temples and the Mother Temple.
Frogs
Stationary poison frogs that strike with their tongue. Attack from range and avoid standing directly in front of them.
Cat Entity & Mossy Mammoth (Part 2)
The Cat Entity is a fast, cute-looking hostile that lunges after a short charge — move toward it to dodge the lunge. The Mossy Mammoth is harmless unless you hit it first, so keep weapons sheathed nearby.
Jungle Biome Part 2 (Aug 29, 2026)
Part 2 of the Jungle Biome shipped inside the Biome Refresher and refreshed the terrain and exploration routes around the temples, ruins and treehouse areas. It also added new content to farm:
- Jungle Pits — stone colosseum arenas. Press the red button to spawn five waves of cultists and boars; clear them for the Log Wall Recipe Tablet (Poison Log Wall), 2x Cultist Gems, a Gem of the Forest, Coins, a Tier 2 Chest and the Duelling badge.
- New mobs: the lunging Cat Entity and the passive Mossy Mammoth.
- New scattered stone platforms and minor Jungle Structures for early-game resources.
Best loot & tips
Poison Claws & Poison Armor
Poison Claws are a damage-over-time melee weapon exclusive to this biome; Poison Armor resists the poison traps that fill the temples. Both make Jungle runs dramatically safer.
Mind the terrain & Tar
Ground levels shift fast (cliffs you cannot jump), foliage blocks sightlines, and Tar slows you to a near-stop — jump to recover speed. Jungle trees need two Strong Axe swings. Bring food, a flashlight, and fuel before pushing deep.
Solo vs party
Temples are far easier with a group — one player holds the rope exit while others loot. Solo, be conservative: clear cultists, bring ranged, and leave if low on HP or energy.
