Dino Kid Wiki

Who Dino Kid is, why he has no real name, what is under the hat, and everything else — lore, food, trinkets and the four missing kids of Survival / Horror, 99 Nights in the Forest.

Overview

Dino Kid is a young, yellow-skinned child who appears crying, wearing a white wrinkled shirt, blue jeans, black shoes and a distinctive red dinosaur hat with eyes, spikes and teeth. He was kidnapped by the main antagonist, The Deer, and locked in a guarded cave. Rescuing all four children is central to the story and reduces the nights needed to survive.

Who is Dino Kid? The questions everyone asks

Name, hair, skin colour, the crying — the details the game deliberately never spells out, answered from the in-game model, the missing posters and the rescue scene.

Real name

None. The kids are only ever identified by their hats — Dino, Kraken, Squid, Koala. No name appears in dialogue, on the noticeboard or on any poster.

Hair

Hidden. The hood covers the entire head, so his hair colour has never been shown. Kraken Kid is the only one of the four with visible hair (brunette).

Skin tone

Yellow on the poster and in the current model, pale white in the cage scene — an inconsistency carried over from earlier versions of the game.

Why he is crying

He was taken from a log in the dense forest by The Deer and locked behind the red gate. He cries on the poster and in the cage, and you hear a muffled cry when he goes in your sack.

The missing poster

Clicking a poster on the campfire noticeboard plays an animation of that child being attacked by The Deer. Dino Kid’s is the first one to appear, at campfire Level 2.

Dino Kid in real life

He is not based on a real person. “Dino Kid in real life” results are fan renders, AI images and cosplay — the outfit is easy to copy, which is exactly why it spread.

Tent colour

A common myth: tent colour follows rescue order (Red → Blue → Yellow → Purple), not which child you saved. Rescue Kraken Kid first and she gets the red tent.

Dino Kid vs Kraken Kid

Dino Kid is male, first, behind 5 red-collared wolves. Kraken Kid is female with brunette hair, second, behind 4 blue alpha wolves, and was dragged into the water from a balcony.
